Security baseline

Login attempt limits, two-factor authentication for administrators, least-privilege roles, and XML-RPC disabled unless something depends on it. When a page builder is fine and when it gets in the way

Page builders have a legitimate place. For a small brochure site that a non-technical owner edits often, Elementor, Divi, or the WordPress block editor with a solid pattern library gives visual control without calling a developer for every text change. Configured well, with reusable templates and global styles, they serve many businesses.

The costs appear as the site grows. Builder markup is deeply nested, which slows rendering and complicates debugging. A design change reaches every page only if each page was built from the same saved template, and pulling values from custom fields into a builder layout takes a paid add-on or custom code. Leaving a builder later is manual work, page by page.

The practical threshold sits around twenty pages, or earlier for sites needing listing templates, filtered search, or strict speed targets for paid traffic. Past that point a themed build with field groups costs less to run across the following year, even though the first invoice is larger.
